Welcome to the Good Bones Society

Our story

It started with a couch and a dog.

My college friend was moving out and leaving behind a perfectly good couch that had seen… some things. I used my sewing skills and theater scene shop training and taught myself how to re-cover the thing and used it for another 5 years. The pillow covers were loose and a little floppy, but my rescue dog Frank loved to bury himself between them to hide in his “Franktuary.”

I dabbled with covering some dining room chairs and stripping, sanding, and staining an old desk over the years. But then, during the pandemic and lock down, I noticed my neighbors were doing a lot of cleaning and leaving great stuff on the curbs. With a little fabric here or paint there, it could all be saved from the landfill. I bought a truck and a bunch of sandpaper and raided Joann’s clearance rack (RIP JOANN! 😫). Trash Couch LLC was born.

But Trash Couch is not as catchy a name as Good Bones Furniture Rescue. My rescue doggos (see Toby Beagler pictured here) always love exploring the new smells when I get a new piece to work on. And just like they’ve been given a second chance to show how wonderful they can be when they are well loved, a stray dining room table or bookshelf or accent chair can really shine with a little TLC.

At Good Bones Furniture Rescue, we find good homes for furniture with good bones. And because we love rescue pets so much, when you donate a piece of furniture to Good Bones, we make a donation in your name to a local animal rescue!
